University & Beyond
As part of their timetable within the Sixth Form at Scarborough College, every student has a dedicated Tutor, access to the Careers Advisor, Mrs Anna Lowe, support and guidance from the Head of Sixth Form, Miss Heather Ramsay and the personal signing off of their ‘personal statements’ by the Headmistress, for their University applications and future careers and Higher Education advice.
Mrs Lowe arranges numerous guest speakers and visitors to the school throughout the year to give an insight and personal experience into the wide variety of Higher Education options open to them, and ways in which they should make the most of their applications and prepare themselves for the world which awaits them, post 18 and post Scarborough College.
At Scarborough College we firmly believe in broadening horizons, giving our students as many opportunities as possible and opening up the whole world to them in terms of future education, employment and life experiences. With all of our Sixth Form Students studying the International Baccalaureate, and a body of UK and International boarders within the school, ranging from 11 to 18 years, we already provide a rich and diverse International flavour to their education in the Senior School.
We have now taken this ethos a step further and want to encourage more young students in Scarborough and Yorkshire to become aware of the wealth of opportunities and experiences which are available to them, if only they know where to look and who to ask. In March 2013, we hosted the first Scarborough College Study Abroad Conference, in partnership with the University of Hull, Scarborough Campus.
