The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at Scarborough College is thriving. We are breaking records yet again with the number of Awards achieved by our pupils. The College is now a licensed Duke of Edinburgh centre in its own right, with a team of dedicated staff who assist in various ways, but particularly in support of the very successful expedition programme. The team is led by Mr Richard Robson, Head of Geography and a qualified Mountain Leader.
The Bronze Award becomes available to students in Year 9, however, the majority of students begin the Award in Year 10. The expedition training programme runs throughout the Autumn Term and expeditions start during the Easter holiday, running until the end of August.
Destinations for the expeditions include Wales or the Lake District for the Gold groups, the Yorkshire Dales or North York Moors for the Silver groups while the Bronze groups take to the East Yorkshire Wolds or North York Moors.
