[SinglePic not found]Every aspect of Sixth Form life is exciting. Outside the classroom plenty of time is set aside to enjoy a huge range of sporting, cultural and social activities. A full induction programme prepares students for the transition from GCSE to the IB and also provides the perfect opportunity for new friendships to form as everyone starts off on the same foot.
Many students choose to board in individual study bedrooms during their time in the Sixth Form, an invaluable preparation for university life. Some choose flexible arrangements and go home at weekends, but for those staying there is a rich programme of weekend activities. There is always plenty going on, clubs and societies abound and everyone is encouraged to pursue their interests and maintain a healthy social life.
Looking beyond the Sixth Form can be a daunting process. To ensure that students can make an informed choice, the Careers Room is well stocked with up to date information. Careers staff, teachers, tutors and Head of Sixth Form are there to provide a guiding hand and to provide help and advice with the complexities of the university application process.
The students are encouraged to make choices that enhance their future possibilities and take into account their abilities and preferences as well as higher education and career ambitions. To this end, they have the opportunity to complete the Centigrade questionnaire in the Lower Sixth, which helps to narrow the sometimes bewildering range of options.
At the end of their time at Scarborough College, it is our aim that students should leave as considerate, articulate and self-possessed young men and women, well-equipped with the skills demanded by a fast-changing world, and strengthened by some strong friendships and a lot of fond memories.
