Our aim in the English Department at Scarborough College is to develop
and nurture the student’s skills in writing, reading, research analysis,
presentation and communication.
We aim:
• to have our pupils to think for themselves
• to question, challenge and provoke
• to cultivate a love of language
• to make well informed, balanced judgements, free from bias or
intolerance
• to develop the well rounded individual, one who can bring all
these skills to bear in the twenty first century
• to encourage our pupils to be positive, creative and humane and
to take responsibility for themselves and others.
