The Extra Curricular Programme caters for popular and
minority interests with activities ranging from origami to horse
riding. Pupils are expected to take part in at least three extra-curricular
activities each week |
| Sports |
The College has long enjoyed a proud reputation for its sport.
A full games programme enables girls and boys in all age groups
to represent the school in competitive team fixtures against other
schools. Many talented students play sport at county and national
levels. The College boasts extensive playing fields, a fine all-weather
pitch and handsome indoor facilities. |
| Specialist staff |
Specialist sports staff coach all the major games - rugby,
hockey, cricket and tennis for boys; hockey, netball, tennis and
rounders for girls. |
| The Arts |
Throughout the College, girls and boys are encouraged to experience
the pleasures and rewards of creative work. There is a vigorous
and varied dramatic programme.
Each year, plays, revues and musicals are staged, some directed
by students, in either the magnificently equipped New Hall, or
the more intimate Studio. |
| Art & Design |
These departments offer timetable courses and leisure opportunities
to all students. Specialist skills such as Printing, Photography
and 3 dimensional work, are nurtured and developed. |
| D of E Award |
A thriving Duke of Edinburgh Award unit provides pupils with
opportunities for social service. Challenging expeditions, under
the supervision of well-qualified staff take place in the the
surrounding countryside and the North Yorkshire National Park. |
| CCF |
The combined Cadet Force is popular with many students. A programme
of on-site training and outward bound adventure encourages girls
and boys to develop qualities of initiative, teamwork and responsibility.
