Support

by-tb-29 Scarborough College places high value on pastoral care and support for every child. The younger children’s welfare and security are closely monitored by their class teacher, whilst junior pupils benefit from the guidance of their Form Tutors who sensitively oversees their social development as well as academic progress. For those children who find aspects of learning more challenging, the School has a Special Educational Needs Coordinator.

In the Sixth Form, where it is recognised that a student has developed different needs as they prepare themselves for the independence they will be given in Higher Education, the tutor’s role is more that of a mentor. This means the tutor will encourage each student to reach the highest standards. The students’ lives are enriched by involvement in the extra curricular life of the School, which is such an important feature of the Sixth Form.
