Careers Guidance

by-tb-64 Scarborough College is committed to providing its students with a high quality careers education and guidance service. A professionally qualified Careers Adviser conducts one-to-one interviews during Years 10 and 11 as a basis for exploring students’ interests and assisting them in researching appropriate courses and pathways. Careers Guidance interviews are available in the form of short drop in sessions at break or lunchtime or more detailed guidance interviews which are arranged in advance.

There is a strong emphasis on university and the vast majority of our sixth form students go on to higher education to pursue a wide range of courses.   Others who choose a more vocational route are provided with the support and guidance they require to pursue careers in the forces, agriculture and industry.

In addition to the Careers Adviser, the Head of Sixth form and the academic staff have a wealth of experience in guiding students through the minefield of university applications. There is also access to accurate and up to date Careers and Higher Education information using data bases, career software packages and library resources.

Parents can arrange to see the Careers Adviser at open evenings or contact her direct to discuss careers &/or Higher Education plans.
