Senior School

[SinglePic not found]To assist the pastoral and administrative organisation, the Senior School is divided into three tiers: Lower School (Years 7 to 9), GCSE Years (Years 10 & 11) and the Sixth Form (Years 12 & 13). Supported by a team of tutors, there is a head of each tier.  Each child is assigned to a tutor who is responsible for monitoring academic progress and pastoral welfare. A tutor is usually the immediate link that a parent has with the school.

Backed by modern teaching methods and facilities, the curriculum in Years 7 to 9 embraces most of the traditional subjects to ensure a child is given a sound academic base before deciding on his/her options for GCSE.

In Year 10, students start their two year GCSE course. Normally the core subjects that are taken for GCSE are: Mathematics, English Language, English Literature, at least one Modern Foreign Language, Biology, Chemistry and Physics (the latter three being taken as separate GCSEs). In addition, from a range of subject options, a pupil will normally take a further three GCSEs.
