Boarding Information

For the boarding community, Scarborough College is not just our school, it is our home and we are very proud of it.

Our most recent OfSTED boarding inspection report showed this clearly.  Here are just some of the extracts from the report that show how the boarders feel about Scarborough College:

Boarders said ‘it’s like a family being at this school’

Boarders comments included ‘I felt very unsettled when I first came to the school but the boarders and house staff made me feel very comfortable and they were easy to talk to’.

‘This is a happy school.’

There are approximately fifty boarders at the College who live in two houses situated a short walk from the main College site. Living away from the main site helps to give the houses that sense of being a home rather than an extension of the College and the houses have all the latest facilities and very comfortable accommodation.

Each house has a dedicated team of staff who work to help the boarders make the very best of their time at the College and put their needs first.

We have a busy programme of events for the boarders to enjoy in the evenings and at weekends and are always happy to try and accommodate requests from the students. Most weekends the boarders have the opportunity to go out and try new experiences such as go-karting, surfing, paintballing and ice skating.

Scarborough is set in beautiful surroundings and the houses are located in the quiet residential area of the south cliff. The town centre is within walking distance and has good shopping facilities which boarders can enjoy at weekends. Weekend trips also include cultural trips and the opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the local area.

For students travelling from further afield Scarborough has excellent rail links with York, Hull and London. There is a direct train service from Manchester Airport and we are happy to make all the necessary travel arrangements to collect and send boarders to Manchester and Leeds Bradford Airports at the beginning and end of each half term.

If you would like to know anything more about boarding at Scarborough College please do not hesitate to get in touch with me or to arrange a visit to come and look around.  This is indeed ‘a happy school’ and we would love you to be a part of it.
