Curriculum
An enriching curriculum

The Junior School curriculum consists of all those activities that promote the intellectual, personal, social, cultural, moral, spiritual and physical development of each and every pupil. Although the school takes account of the requirements of the National Curriculum, teachers make available enhanced opportunities for learning - particularly in languages, science, music, technology and sport.

Specialist support Pupils are taught appropriate knowledge, skills and understanding through whole class teaching, group work and, where appropriate, individual tuition. Class teaching - with thoughtfully introduced specialist support where this is advantageous - is the pattern until Year 4. This is then advanced by full specialist subject teaching in the last two years.
Benefits of small class sizes

The breadth of opportunity on offer academically and the diverse programme of extra curricular activities do not detract from the solid grounding Junior School pupils receive. The full complement of well-qualified staff ensures a generous teacher-pupil ratio. The Junior School takes pride in producing well-rounded, confident and responsible children who are fully prepared for the Senior School.

Special needs A Special Educational Needs Coordinator further enhances provision by working directly with those pupils who find learning more challenging - either because they are very able but need supplementary stimulation, or because they need additional time and assistance to consolidate core literacy and numeracy skills. The school also provides independently staffed teaching accommodation for Hull Dyslexia Action in support of those pupils taught specialised programmes following referral by an Educational Psychologist.
