Beyond the classroom Learning experiences beyond the teaching routines of the classroom are an important part of the provision at the Junior School. Class visits to the theatre and nearby places of interest can give lessons an added impetus and relevance that broadens and extends their learning. Year 6 pupils in particular look forward to their summer term two-night/three day outward bound residential experience - one of the important highlights of their schooling at Lisvane.
Extra curricular Extra curricular activities provide an invaluable enrichment of school life and children are encouraged, and expected, to participate in worthwhile recreations at lunchtime, after school, and at the occasional weekend. A wide and stimulating choice of programme offers something for every child, from Latin to Dance, Choir and Orchestra, and from additional sporting opportunities for team coaching to Drama and Art Club. Supervised ‘homework’ sessions for junior pupils are also available at the end of the teaching day
Parental involvement

Junior School parents are encouraged to play a full part in their children’s education through a comprehensive programme of events, concerts, matches and special assemblies. Consultation evenings are also held during the year to discuss pupils’ progress and informal visits are always welcome by the Head and staff of the school.

The Junior School has a very active Parents’ Association that organises a range of fun social occasions and fund-raising activities that enhance the school’s facilities and resources to the benefit of all the pupils. Such activities add to the school’s strong sense of community and make this a very special place in which to work learn and live.
