Sports

hockey-match-6 We aim to encourage fitness and a healthy enjoyment of physical activity through a wide sporting programme. We have the great advantage of sharing the Senior School campus and, for a school of our size, we are able to offer exceptional facilities and standards of coaching, enabling children to enjoy and excel in a range of disciplines.

In the Junior School, we believe in the concept of sport for all whilst also encouraging a spirit of sensible competition. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in team sport through inter-house tournaments, as well as fixtures with other schools in both the independent and maintained sectors. Parents are encouraged to add their support at these matches as well as Sports Days, helping to build a growing esprit de corps for the School.

Sport and PE are part of the curriculum but there are many additional opportunities for pupils to use their extra-curricular time to develop their skills or participate in another sport. The major sports for boys are football, rugby, cricket and hockey, with girls playing netball, hockey and rounders. Boys and girls are taught athletics during the summer and, thanks to the all-weather surface, tennis is available all year round for both.
