Extra-Curricular Activities

camping-trip-4 Passionately believing that education should extend beyond the classroom, we provide a stimulating range of extra-curricular activities as well as excursions, theatre visits, and residential expeditions to excite and involve our pupils.

Children love making music and at Scarborough College Junior School they are given every encouragement to participate. Excellent facilities and dedicated teaching help encourage a high number of pupils to take individual instrumental and/or singing lessons. There are concerts and musical events throughout the year – many shared with the Senior School – involving our orchestra, strings group, junior and infant choirs. The quality of their performances is testament to both the standard of teaching and the talents and enthusiasm of the children.

Although Drama is an integral part of the English curriculum, there are many opportunities for pupils to take part outside the classroom. Some choose to perform, others to contribute behind the scenes, but everyone has great fun. In recent years, the Junior School has staged large-scale musicals to great acclaim and shows have included Alice in Wonderland, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and most recently, Scrooge.
