An Outstanding Start

preprep-2 During the ‘Early Years’, the emphasis is on learning that is both challenging and rewarding. In Little Owls Pre-School, we combine all the advantages of a conventional nursery with a wonderful range of learning opportunities and play to provide boys and girls from the age of 3 with essential skills. As our youngest pupils continue to thrive and develop their self-esteem, their all-round progress is best summed up by a recent Inspection Report: “an outstanding start is provided in the Foundation Stage”.

As the children move through the Infant Department, they are supported by an enthusiastic and dedicated teaching staff committed to identifying and then developing children’s talents. Class teaching is the pattern until Year 3. This approach allows the school to closely monitor individual progress, identifying areas where a child might need additional support or providing further stimulation for the most able pupils. The Junior School aims to surpass the requirements of the National Curriculum, providing enhanced opportunities for learning, particularly in languages, science, music, technology and sport.

Through carefully planned work routines, children grow in confidence and competence, enabling them to flourish academically. High standards of literacy and numeracy are energetically fostered, so that English and Mathematics become enjoyable and fulfilling activities. In line with our ethos of striving for excellence in every area of school life, the children are encouraged throughout these early years to develop good manners, self discipline, reliability and a consideration for others as an essential part of their education.
