The Agents enjoyed their visit to our beautiful seaside town and the College.  They were very keen to learn more about the IB and the wonderful all round experience we offer all our students, aged from 3-18.  Some of the agents were very complimentary of the school and the IB programme as a whole, knowing how valuable it is for overseas students to secure good University places in both the UK and the USA.

Despite the cold wind and drizzle, David ran a batting clinic for the boys which was well received and saw real improvements over the session.

David then helped the College countdown to the Olympic Torch arriving in Scarborough by changing the number to 45 days until the big day.

The U13 cricket team are only one of two teams that have managed to play a game of cricket so far this term because of the poor weather. A good close game against St Martin’s Ampleforth which we lost by 15 runs. Alex Ingham staring with the bat and Year 7 pair of Oliver Beckett and Jack Robinson impressing with their bowling.

Good luck to all our cricket teams this season.  Let’s hope the sun soon comes out so we can all enjoy the Scarborough summer – North Yorkshire at its finest!

Following the rehearsal, Sir Alan gave the students some sound advice and positive feedback. The students from both years were then given a great opportunity to ask Sir Alan a range of thought provoking questions about his life and work. Sir Alan’s responses captivated the students’ attention as he humorously talked about how he creates characters, his method of writing and his passion for Scarborough and the Theatre. Sir Alan talked with some depth about writing comedy and tragedy, and that his 76^th play is starting in two weeks time.

Sir Alan and Lady Ayckbourn’s visit was a true inspiration for the students, who were motivated into entering the world of Theatre and play writing. It’s not everyday that one of the greatest living playwrights walks into your lesson to pass on his wisdom. We wish Sir Alan every success with his next play.”

John Rowlands, Lucy Cammish and Zoe Harrison spoke to the students and explained, in this increasingly competitive world of Higher Education and Careers, how they can use and benefit from the experience and knowledge our OSA members have who are based locally and all over the world.

The importance of standing out from the crowd and being able to ask recent leavers and more mature members about a their experience at University, choosing a specific course, gaining valuable work experience, short and long term placements and various overseas contacts are all so valuable, especially when you are trying to show future universities, and employers why they should choose you over the hundereds of other applicants.
