Admissions Procedure

All admissions enquiries should be directed to Sue Abram, Secretary to the Headmaster on +44 (0)1723 380601 or admin@scarboroughcollege.co.uk

Junior School admission is by visit to the School, interview with the Head of Junior School and Taster Day.

Senior School boys and girls are admitted to Senior school at 11 and 13 years old, following an Entrance Examination in November, or through Common Entrance, or through special arrangements. Students are admitted to other years, subject to recommendation from their previous school, an interview, and where appropriate, satisfactory performance in a College examination.

Sixth Form admissions have a minimum requirement of 5 GCSEs at C level or above to enter the College’s Sixth Form to study the International Baccalaureate. Interviews with IB staff form part of the admission procedure, and students may be required to take an entrance examination.

To arrange a visit please go to our enquiries page

Overseas students are required to submit:
• school reports for the previous 2 years
• certificates, if appropriate, (GCSE or equivalent and any other exam taken)
• written reference from Head of previous school.

All applicants are required to take an English entrance examination and are required to achieve a passing grade, Year 9 (IELTS Band 5) and the Lower 6 (Year 12) (IELTS Band 5.5-6). English tuition is available to students at all levels. On arrival at the College, students complete a diagnostic test to determine their level and needs. Extra English lessons cost on average an additional £300-£500 a term.

A registration fee is required. Where an overseas student is currently educated in a UK school, the College will arrange entrance examinations either at the College or the applicant’s current school. For students studying overseas, Scarborough College will send the appropriate examination papers to the British Council. Candidates who pass the Entrance Examination will be offered a place at Scarborough College; acceptance of the place is by return of the Acceptance Form, together with the required fee.

All Students living outside of the European Union require guardians. Students within the EU may list a guardian if they wish. Please note that Scarborough College does not take responsibility for finding guardians, but we can provide guidance on how to find a guardian if this is difficult.
