BoardingThe three boarding houses at Scarborough College provide an excellent family atmosphere for pupils who decide to board. With a number of overseas students mixing easily with students who live in Britain, our boarders learn a lot about living successfully together in a supportive and caring community. In the OfSTED Report on the College’s boarding facilities published in February 2010, on the four point scale (Outstanding, Good, Satisfactory and Inadequate), every aspect of boarding was rated ‘good’ and the overall rating was also ‘good’. For every student there is an option that suits their family and their needs – weekly boarding, term time boarding or a combination of both. Included in the fees there is a range of activities which are organised for boarders who stay at weekends. Residential staff offer the highest levels of pastoral care and the school offers modern facilities such as study bedrooms and wi-fi access. The boarding house ethos is based on creating a ‘family’ atmosphere, one in which each student feels at home and part of the boarding community. We place great importance on learning the personal and communication skills for living together. The qualities we encourage are tolerance, courtesy, consideration of and sensitivity towards others. |
