Guy Bristowe, Sam Fakingham, Tom Precious and Jannes Timke, qualified for the Under 16's National Indoor Hockey Championship finals in Southampton in January 2010.

The boys, who play for Driffield Hockey Club, reached the finals by beating Sheffield (6-4), Lancaster (13-0) Bowden (4-1) and York Hockey Club, which was won in a penalty shoot. By beating York the boys team qualified for the National Clubs indoor semi finals in Southampton.

In the Southampton finals the boys faced Bromley and started off to a super fast tempo, with Captain Guy Bristowe shooting low into the corner past the keeper to take the lead. Bromley quickly equalised and their experience showed as they raced to a 5-1 lead at half time. The team showed great tenacity and finished the game with Bromley 6-3 winners.

The second match was against Bath Buccaneers when a 2-1 half time lead filled the team with confidence. Bath started the second half swiftly and many parents commented that it was some of the best hockey they had seen as the boys won 5-3.

The boy's celebrated Tom Precious' 16 birthday on the Saturday evening before an early 7.30am breakfast in preparation for Sunday's two matches. Beeston started the game strongly and the boys were slow to respond and Beeston won the game 6-3. The final game was against Old Loughonians, with both teams playing end to end hockey with the boys creating opportunities to attack. Sadly the team lost 5-2 but neutral spectators commented it was one of the most entertaining games they had watched.

With one win and three losses the team finished a very credible fourth in their pool of five. The team showed determination, sportsmanship and an all round positive attitude.
