Year 3 Chassis Testing session

yr3mrpettitt This term Year 3 have been busy planning and constructing an 8mm timber chassis using the ‘Jinks’ jointing system.

The pupils then decided which size wheels to assemble onto the axles with a view to a ramp distance test using the force of gravity only.

When all the chassis were complete we set up the angled ramp in the Junior School Hall and each pupil took turns in setting their models off
down the ramp. All distances were recorded for use in ICT.

We will now use the distance data from today’s testing session as a base for inserting into Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet Programme, and from this we will generate Graphs and Charts as an example of Graphic Data Presentation.

The images show Liberty Scott launching her chassis down the ramp, The Year 3 Class watches Ahmed Hayat (Distance winner with 6.60m) set off his winning Chassis and also Mary Barker and Hamish Fraser with Ahmed and Scarlett looking on.
