The Scarborough College senior Prize giving held on Saturday, 19 November, proved to be a resounding success and everyone was delighted to see so many former pupils return to receive their IB Diplomas and prizes. Some had travelled from abroad to be there and to attend the OSA Ball in the evening. The event was held at The Spa in the newly refurbished Grand Hall and was a very fitting venue for such an important occasion in the College calendar.
Parents and friends of the College attended, including many members of the OSA, some of whom were renewing their acquaintance with the College after many years. The Deputy Mayoress was in attendance and kindly presented a new cup, The Geraghty Cup for the Deputy Head of School. The guest speaker was Dr Stephen Winkley, currently Head of Rossall School in Lancashire. He was formerly Head of Uppingham School and had recently been presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Independent Schools Awards. He lived up to his reputation as an entertaining speaker causing some uproarious laughter, but also stressed the value of the education the pupils at Scarborough College are receiving, urging them to strive to be beacons of success in the future.
