Boys Rugby
Lots of matches against Ampleforth this week. Our first team were too strong for the Ampleforth 3rd XV and perhaps could take on the Second XV at Ampleforth later this season.
The U15 were in a very tight physical game. Ben Hartley providing a good attacking option in midfield and the entire team were committed to tackling throughout the game. Good to see the boys holding their nerve in a tight finish.
The U14 had a home fixture against Ampleforth and initially were blown away by the well drilled Ampleforth side. However they showed their character and fought back well, the Bulmer boys and Tarric Rajab led the way with aggressive counter attack. The large number of parents watching enjoyed a very competitive game.
Girls Hockey
The U12 played some fantastic hockey to be unbeaten in the Hymers U12 tournament. They won 2 and drew 4 matches so finished 5th out of 16 schools, and dominated every team they played on the day. Georgia Holdsworth controlled the midfield with Grace Sykes and Harriet Stephenson providing the goals.
Girls 2nd XI lost a high scoring game 5-6 to Fylinghall.
The U14 girls won the Scarborough and District hockey competition by defeating Ampleforth in a nail biting final that went to penalty strokes. The girls played really well as a team throughout the day and were cheered on by vocal supporters. They now progress to the County round held at Queen Margarets on Tuesday 11th October.
After the Scarborough College Open Day, the U15 continued the display with a great match against Barnard Castle. Flowing hockey and hard, direct attacking meant the girls were yet again successful. Alice, Georgina and Kate then had a ten minute break and then played for the 1st XI!
The 1st XI, after a disappointing game mid week, were expecting a heavy defeat from Barnard Castle, but dug deep to produce a great performance to lose only by 2-1. Claudia Proctor scoring our goal. The girls showed great character to keep in this game and could have won in a well contested second half.
