Spanish Exchange 2011

After a fantastic week when our Spanish exchange trip partners came to beautiful Scarborough, it was now the College’s turn to visit the stunning city of Bilbao in the Basque region of Spain and ‘living la vida loca’.

The exchange families were brilliant – they made sure that we were all made very welcome, and that they enveloped us within the ways of traditional Basque life.

The first full day took us to Bilbao’s stunning Town Hall, a majestic palace. Our guide even took us onto the balcony which gave us a spectacular view of the town – something that only a privileged few VIPs had been given!

Over the next week we went to Gorlitz, a picturesque coastal town. There, we all took part in canoeing and surfing under the strict supervision of experts.

We went to the coastal town of San Sebastian, seen on TV’s Coach Trip recently.  Followed later by a trip to the stunning, and justifiably world-famous, Guggenheim Museum. Welcomed by a statue of a giant dog made of flowers and a massive steel spider, we went inside the unconventionally-styled building.

If you would like to know more about the trip, please see the gallery of photographs below, or contact Mrs Robledo via the College. The College is running more exchange trips this coming academic year, with a brilliant trip to Paris and Berlin planned for October.
