Scarborough College were the proud Main Sponsors of the recent Derwent Hunt Branch of the Pony Club, Annual Show.

The Pony Club, a voluntary youth organisation with over 110,477 members, has simple objectives – to encourage young people to ride and enjoy horse sports; teach riding and stable management – enabling youngsters to look after and care properly for their animals, and promote sportsmanship. The Derwent Hunt branch of the Pony Club, established in 1963, has helped hundreds of local youngsters to achieve these aims and if you are under 21 you could join them. The Pony Club is designed to encourage all ages and abilities to ride well and enjoy looking after their ponies. The Pony Club run lots of events at all levels from “fun” rallies to training hard for area team competitions. Membership costs £50.00 per year, which entitles every youngster to join in subsidised riding and stable management lessons and of course Pony Club Camp!
This year we had a wonderful day with brilliant weather and loads of entries. There were nearly 30 classes in total with something for everyone - ranging from veteran showing to leadrein show jumping, working hunters to Bonniest pony. Below is a picture of Chris Cundall presenting the ”race horse to riding horse trophy” to Lindsey Harrison who rode Just Wishing .
The standard was very high and it was appropriate that Lindsey won as she is a vet at Chris’s practise - Cundall and Duffy. The trophy “The Harry and John Cundall Trophy” was donated by Chris in memory of his late Uncle Harry Cundall and his father John Cundall.
Congratulations to all the riders and their ponies who took part in the fantastic show, especially to all the winners and runners-up of the Scarborough College sponsored classes.
